Working with kids pragmatically?

Welcome to this online program with Pragmatic Psychology!

How can you facilitate kids to greatness?
(Facilitating means "making easier".)
How can that also enrich you and your life?

This is an invitation to everyone who works with children: Parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, therapists, doctors... and for all those who want to take a closer look at their own childhood.

Pragmatic means doing what works. In this reality, the focus is usually more dramatic and on problems. Children are often judged, made wrong and often even diagnosed as ill.

What else is possible beyond this paradigm?

Parents and teachers also often struggle with judgments of being wrong, not doing enough or not doing it right. I invite you to discover the strengths behind all this and to find out what you are capable of and know in relation to children and also your work with families.

How much can all this enrich you and your life? How much aliveness and how many capacities did you leave behind in your childhood that you can now allow yourself to access again?

In this program, I will show you a completely new approach to working with children. How many capacities and how much knowing are in the children and in you that they and you have never been acknowledged for?

Facilitating kids to greatness!

You can use the tools of Pragmatic Psychology and the pragmatic approach in this program immediately in your work with children, whether as a parent or grandparent or as a coach, teacher, therapist or doctor.

This online program consists of 5 modules.

1) Your Difference as a Gift
2) From Education to Empowerment
3) The Possibility of Knowing and Awareness
4) The Capacities behind the Diagnosis
5) Pragmatic instead of Dramatic

Module 1

Your Difference as a Gift

What contribution are you and your difference to the children you work with? In this module, I would like to invite you to discover your difference and to see and recognize it as the gift that it is.

  • Your starting point
What do you know about working with children? What is your starting point, your intention? Why did you choose this profession? We will explore all of this together in this module.
  • Contribution
What contribution are you to the kids? And how much can the kids contribute to you? We look at how you can engage with the children's playful perspective and how much there is to discover.
  • Judgment as compliment
Your difference is your greatest strongness. In this module, I show you how can stop making judgments significant and instead see them for what they are.

Module 2

From Education to Empowerment

In this module, we no longer focus on education, but on empowerment. Empowerment means showing children what they are capable of and using a few tools to strengthen their access to this knowledge.

  • Questions as seeds of possibilities
Children are used to getting answers, judgments and orders. With the tool of questions, children are empowered to access what they know and what is true for them.
Learn how to ask real questions that allow children to find out what is true for them.
  • Fake questions vs. real questions
Be willing to ask lots of questions and take your time to let the questions sink in with the children. Genuine questions open doors and gates. Fake questions look for a reason or an answer.
  • More clarity with the tool light and heavy
This tool shows kids what is true for them. It is like a compass in the jungle of judgments and points of view.
  • Following the lightness
In our world, we attach great importance to heaviness. Lightness is true for us. Following lightness is the way to create more for our lives. Show the children a new navigation system for their lives: lightness.

Module 3

The Possibility of Knowing and Awareness

In this module, we focus on trusting what we know. When judgments and points of view are no longer real, what is possible?

It is a great contribution if you acknowledge the children for the knowing that they carry within them and show them that not everything that goes on in their world necessarily has anything to do with them.

  • Interesting point of view as new perspective
This tool is the invitation to see things from a different perspective instead of going into judgment and wrongness. This tool is so powerful. It shows children that their views are not as real as they thought and that they can be changed at any time.
  • Create freedom with the tool “Who does this belong to?“
How much are children aware of what is going on around them? With this tool, you show them how they can immediately get more clarity with one question and quickly realize how little of all this actually has to do with them.
  • Awareness as treasure chest
Show the children how they can use their awareness, their sensitivity as a treasure chest. How much knowledge do they carry within them that you can discover with them? And how can they use all this information for themselves?
  • Space of relaxation
Many kids don't know how to deal with all the awareness. Acknowledge them for their fantastic perception. Practice lowering their barriers with them, to have more ease with their awareness.

Module 4

The Capacities behind the Diagnosis

In this module, we look at the capacities behind diagnoses such as ADHD and autism. There are also new tools on how to facilitate children's learning and show them how to use their awareness as a capacity.

  • Feelings
Ask the children what they perceive and playfully discover their knowing together with them. Feelings are deceptive. People like to get lost in interpretations and constructs. Old reference points are used and projected onto the current situation. Show them what is possible beyond feelings and how much power lies in their awareness.
  • Energetic language
Non-verbal communication is often much more natural for children. In this module, we look at what is possible when you engage in this type of communication with children and what a gift you are to them.
  • Diagnoses as an award for being different
Pragmatic Psychology has a completely different approach when it comes to so-called diagnoses. ADHD and autism are ways of functioning that are simply different. We therefore see diagnoses as awards for being different. Here is my invitation to explore the abilities behind these diagnoses.
  • ADHD
Children with ADHD have great multitasking skills. In this module, we take a closer look at how you can help them to have more ease in their everyday school life and with their homework. And also at multitasking skills and what the possibilities for the kids lie behind them.

Module 5

Pragmatic instead of Dramatic

In this module, we focus in particular on working with adolescents. The approach of Pragmatic Psychology is to look at what works and how young people can be empowered to discover their capacities and talents.

The world is asking for diversity. Being different is a gift and works if you don't judge it, but see the possibilities behind it. What changes can you inspire in children by being different?

  • Allowance
In this module, my invitation is to let the young people make their own choices. We practice being the space where this is possible and how you can support them with the tools to find their own way.
  • Supporting the parents
It is important not to always see things too dramatically. Many parents think they have failed. Be the invitation not to take all this personally and not to go into wrongness or judge yourself.
  • Choice creates
Every choice creates awareness and gives us information. You can support the adolescents in making their own choices and at the same time show them what their choices create.
  • School refusal
Some tools on how to deal with school refusal and how to quickly create change for the young person by asking specific questions. Here, too, I will show you how to stay pragmatic instead of getting caught up in the drama.
  • Invitation to more
The tools can really make a difference if you are willing to be open and curious and not look for answers. We discover how you can approach the children anew every day and support them to grow in their greatness without judgments and projections.
